World Cup is what seems to be on everyones mind right now.

As people gather the excitement intensifies. The players walk out

and the crowd erupts. The whistle goes and the ball kicks off, it

dances around feet looking for the right move. The noise gets louder,

that final kick as the ball heads towards, the joy and pain and

mixed. emotions, as the ball speeds up, all focus on that one ball

as it flies into the goal - NZs first goal :) (June 2010)

" I feel angry and sad horrendous. I look after my neighbours non verbal

son sometimes and know how frustrating it can be for him at times, but

he still can communicate if individuals take the time to listen, I can only

imagine how damaging and hurtful this situation must be for the individual."

Filmed in New Zealand classrooms, the DVD Autism at School shows how
teachers are creating learning environments where children with an autism
spectrum disorder (ASD can thrive. From an Asperger’s teenager dealing with
bullying to parents discussing the problems and successes they’ve had dealing
with school, this DVD includes several classroom case studies advice and tips
from parents and teachers, and students with ASD talking about what works
for them. Go to http://www.southernmoon.weebly.com  for more information and

We are all born as unique individuals, but some of us will
always be that bit more different and often because of this
some of us at times kept on the edge of society so to speak.
I know it's hard for others to understand our ever ending need
for knowledge, its like we vacuum up thoughts, over process
in a way, push boundaries and often come up with some
great concepts, getting others to listen often the problem.
 .
I continual to speak out, at times battling against the majority
here in NZ because I have a son and want him to be embraced
for his intelligence not forced to conform and sadly while many
continual to not fit in, an ocean of much wasted misunderstood
talent, frustrating to say the least.... Even autism groups where
I live in NZ often feel a need to train the children, even medicate
them rather than really listen. And often their only anger frustration
from not being heard, we need to embrace these children from
a young age, encourage and give the confidence to be who
the are as individuals, society often the only disabler!..

true to self, dare to push boundaries if we do not quite fit and of

course we will always be influenced by those that surround us.

Mums organise run to help children  - April 2009

http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/national/2308334/Mums-organise-run-to-help-children

Exhausted but so happy  I have not been back long from one of my most special moments ever, today I felt so allowed, alive and all I can say right now is brilliant every child, individual came together, we planted a seed and it grew so much more than we could of ever imagine... parents of autistic children please do not doult what your children can do, I saw so much joy and at the finish line so much pride, well over 1,000 nearing  2,000 do not yet know numbers but that does not matter, hardly a child sensory overloaded and the odd child that did we had a resource for, it was a place and a chance for many just to be and I feel so privileged to have been able to help arrange such an event... it has open my eyes to see that there really needs to be many more events that are inclusive, where parents can just relax and not worry and every difference is allowed. And it was great to be in the majority myself, and I felt a real sense and connection with those special individuals today.... I know so much more still needs to be done, but I also believe awareness is key world wide first...
