Filmed in New Zealand classrooms, the DVD Autism at School shows how
teachers are creating learning environments where children with an autism
spectrum disorder (ASD can thrive. From an Asperger’s teenager dealing with
bullying to parents discussing the problems and successes they’ve had dealing
with school, this DVD includes several classroom case studies advice and tips
from parents and teachers, and students with ASD talking about what works

. YouTube - Severe Autism: When There is No Answer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98E7xIemyN8&feature=related

“Varying degrees of autism I feel an important thing to remember

the autism spectrum is huge and diverse,  a child like this I feel

really needs 200% support and maybe they will always be happier

in their own worlds, and I cannot help but wonder if it is just

autism or a combination with other... co-morbids.  And of course

I am not  dismissing the severity as I do feel these children

worlds need to be adapted to suit their needs, just like if someone

was in a wheelchair etc... But I also still feel spectrum

individuals generally can help others see the world as they do!”

Father of Autistic child asks question | Law of Attraction

"I agree it does seem at times some children are harshened out of being, words like fit

in - into what? Conform its like at times some individuals can only see as far as their

own experiences!  I feel as parents once we stop trying to change and start to embrace

and allow the unique individual child, everyone within and around the family benefits,

as we all are simply the way we are and should all try and learn and grow form that! "

YouTube - My life with Asperger's Syndrome
"I feel a great description of many of our traits, so true we often either
explode into too many ranting sentences or shut-down when meeting new
people, how we cannot connect to irrelevance, making friends, eye connect.
As however confidant I am now hearing this young adult speak makes
me think back to how hard it was growing up and continues to be for many.."

I am an autistic adult who is sick of so-called "experts" trying to

explain what they think an autistic person is going through. They

think they can "fix" autistic children by forcing them to act normal.

My comment: Brilliant, that made me smile today... the emotionless aspie as has been

implied, not true of course but often our fixed smiles, after years of pretending to fit,

I finally feel the mask is fading and hearing you sing gives me so much hope, as I think

back and find confidence again to allow myself to lose myself in the things that truly matter

to and stop trying to be what I have never been an, it’s taken a few years but I have found

that magical ingredient "autism" in me and so proud to be an autistic individual and can

now truly smile.Your an inspiration to so many of us still .discovering…(Alyson Bradley)

I was looking at some of these videos, and really saw one, that was called You and Me Against the World. My Mom used to sing that to me, when I was a child, and she was a very good parent as in letting me be me. She never ever intimidated me or made me do things, I was afraid of doing. I've seen some of these videos, and I really hope these kids and adults make it. I was lucky, that I did make it, thanks to a wonderful Mom, especially her. I couldn't ask for a better parent. Sad thing is, she passed away back in early 2000, just a day before her 67th BD. She died of cancer, and I do miss her ever such, and will always love her forever much! I have done things in my life, the last ten years, and I could only wish she could look down and see what I've become. She was told I wouldn't ever walk, or talk, and was supposed to go deaf and blind, and none of this ever happened to me. She was told, I wouldn't ever toilet train, and all that good stuff Doctors just love to say about people like us. Now I'm productive, and I can see and hear it all, when I wasn't supposed to be at all. I live a happy life, and I'm treated pretty good... I did well with computers, and writting, and found out, I also have an above average IQ, and that, I sort of knew, when I got into self-taught computer programming, back in the early 80's, and I haven't stopped tinkering with computers, I just slowed down on them a bit. But all this stuff Doctors said to my Mom, that I wouldn't do this or be that. Now I'm living proof that anyone can do things. You may not do them today, but you will do them tomorrow. Thanks to my Wonderful Mom, I can do all these fantastic things, I wasn't supposed to do....

PS: Don't ever give up on your kids, or your loved ones... You need them, just as much as they need you...

Just one more word of advice! What is NORMAL? What is normal? Well my state of normal is who I am, and as long as I'm not changing into a six legged creature and I remain human, then I'm pretty normal too. Aren't I? Aren't we all normal at some point? Your state of normal might not be my hot cup of tea. My state of normal might not be your sweat cup of coffee either. I think normalizing someone is just a selfish state of robbing someone from their true uniqueness. Being different is normal, believe it or not. If I were to act like this person, or that person, I wouldn’t be me, because I wouldn’t be at my very own state of my normal, to my own existence possible. What is normal? Who really cares? The word “NORMAL” probably came from some university way back in the Stone Age. It’s the wealthy, who get to decide who is normal, and who isn’t. It’s a crying shame that we still fight over religion and gold. We haven’t grown that much at all, over the centuries. Now who are the normal ones and who are the so-called different ones. Well the ones, who run the show are pretty normal, aren’t they? Yet they lack so much, and conceal their true-self, behind a fake, flashy smile. Yup, if that’s what normal is, I don’t want anything to do with it. Some words can actually imprison us, and it’s sad that big people can grow so small, and label everyone, just so they can feel so big again. So, I ask again. What is normal?

Diversity and Growth are what NORMAL truly is, and it’s what normal should, truly be all about. We are all NORMAL! Aren't we?
